Since version 26.1, ImageMeter uses the same version numbers on Android, iOS and desktop computers (Windows, macOS, Linux).
A version number such as 26.1.3 has three parts:
- 26 is the year of the release (2026).
- 1 is the feature level within that year. It increases with the larger releases that add new features or change the file format.
Versions with the same first two numbers use the same file format and can read each other's files.
- 3 is the patch level. It increases with every update that brings corrections or smaller additions and leaves the file format unchanged.
The same version number means the same state of the app on every platform.
Not every update is released for every platform, so a platform may skip some patch levels.
If the first two numbers of two devices differ, the older version may not be able to open the files of the newer one. Update the older app in this case.
All version numbers that start with 26 or higher follow this scheme.
Earlier versions were numbered separately for each platform. The last of them were 3.10.3 on Android and 1.7.1 on desktop computers.
The iOS version started with the new numbering scheme at version 26.1.0.
